Emily’s journey to become a counsellor began as she experienced the profound impact of compassion and authentic connection in her own life. She then started to explore how our relationships and the context we are in impact how we experience distress, resiliency, and ourselves. Devinder (Dev) Dhaliwal, a Registered Social Worker, in good standing, with the British Columbia College of Social Workers and British Columbia Association of Social Workers. He completed a Master of Social work studies at the University of the Fraser Valley in the beautiful city of Abbotsford nestled in the Fraser Valley, BC, where he was born and raised. Val is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and works in-person with individuals who are seeking support through difficult circumstances. Her approach is client-focused, collaborative and optimistic, views each person as an individual within a family system, and can help with difficulties impacting clients biologically, psychologically, socially and spiritually. She believes that how we interpret our abilities and experiences is key to working through life challenges with meaning, and her goal is to help clients navigate through their difficulties towards positive change.

Her areas of focus are trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, and relationships. Val has experienced difficult life events that deepen her capacity for empathy with individuals who have experienced trauma, complicated grief, chronic illness, family issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD symptoms and stroke recovery.
