Our Post Practicum Interns are individuals who have completed their Masters Degree in Counselling or a related field and have completed 200+ hours of clinical experience. These individuals can offer discounted rates until they receive their full licensing.


Counselling - Clinical Interns

Masters Level Clinical Interns provide low fee services ($50 per session or less). Sessions with our clinical interns are not eligible for extended health benefits/reimbursement.

EMILY FOSTER B.B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed. (School Counselling)

Emily is a dedicated and passionate teacher. She has been an educator for five years in learning support and inclusive education. Over the past two years, she has worked as an elementary school counsellor throughout her practicum and internship in her master’s program.

Emily takes a trauma-informed, person-centred, and solution-focused approach believing that we all have the inherent ability to find the strength and resiliency within ourselves for growth and change. Emily’s empathy, care, and presence allow clients to feel safe, seen, and heard.

She is particularly passionate about child advocacy, building confidence, self-worth and social skills and working with the LGBTQ2SI+ community. She is experienced in supporting families and children with navigating school challenges such as social and emotional regulation, separation anxiety, academic strategies for learning, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and teacher and school staff collaboration.

Emily is well-informed in the areas of anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, neurodivergence, child abuse, and trauma. Emily acknowledges that she lives, works, and learns on the traditional, unceded, and occupied territories of the Syilx/Okanagan people.

Balroop achieved her Master of Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, New Brunswick. The initiation of her career began to advocate the importance of mental health within all age groups. Balroop has worked with children and adults by assisting them in overcoming their emotional and cognitive challenges. While working with children in a school setting, she achieved her Child and Youth Care certification from Sheridan College, Ontario.

Balroop has an integrative approach; therefore, her methodologies are derived from multiple frameworks, such as Internal family systems, Cognitive behavioural therapy, DBT- dialectical approach, ACT- Acceptance and commitment approach, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and motivational interviews. She acknowledges the importance of self-confidence and encourages a collaborative perspective to proceed towards goal achievement. Lauren (she/her) is a graduate student pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and is currently completing her practicum with OK Clinical Therapy Group.

With a long-standing interest in human connection and emotional wellbeing, Lauren brings warmth, curiosity, and care into her work. She draws from a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). Her approach is collaborative and integrative, meaning she tailors each session to the unique needs, identities, and goals of the individual, youth, or couple she’s working with.

Lauren is passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces where clients can feel seen and heard. She operates from the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives . Lauren believes that meaningful change happens through connection, compassion, and shared curiosity. She works with individuals, youth (12+), and couples from all backgrounds and has a particular interest in concerns related to sexuality, gender identity, self-esteem, and relationships. She is affirming of diverse relationship structures, including polyamory and consensual non-monogamy, and has a strong emphasis on supporting romantic partners in navigating challenges and deepening connection.

Outside of her clinical work, Lauren enjoys reading fiction, paddle boarding, hiking, and playing board games. She lives with her partner and two dogs, who remind her daily of the joy in slowing down and staying present.

Janice (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the British Columbia College of Social Work (BCCSW) and the British Columbia Association of Social Workers (BCASW). Janice is also registered as a Social Worker in Saskatchewan (telehealth only) and can support clients living in Saskatchewan via secure virtual sessions. She grew up in the beautiful Okanagan Valley and obtained her Master of Social Work from UBC.  Janice has experience working with people of all ages, in all stages of life, and with diverse abilities.  Her work with government organizations and community agencies has given her a diverse background working with children, parents and families facing barriers such as anxiety, depression, substance misuse, parenting and relationship challenges, and personal or work-related stress.  Janice strives to connect with clients through warmth, empathy, and understanding and walks alongside them on their path.   

As a Registered Social Worker, Janice has experience in solutions-focused approaches, motivational interviewing, attachment theory, family systems theory, as well as mindfulness-based techniques.  Her approach is evidence-based and trauma-informed.  Her goal is to empower clients to gain insight into their challenges and connect with their strengths to move past them.

Paula holds a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). She also completed a diploma in Child and Youth Work from Humber College. Originally from Toronto, Paula now calls the Okanagan home, where she is dedicated to supporting individuals and families in their journey toward healing and growth

Paula’s academic and practical experience is complemented by 17 years of coaching gymnastics, which has enabled her to develop a profound understanding of child development and the importance of nurturing children in a holistic and supportive way. Her role as a coach fueled her passion for working with children, offering her unique insights into their needs, strengths, and potential. Drawing from her years as a Child and Youth Worker, Paula recognizes the significance of early childhood intervention. She is dedicated to supporting children and adolescents through critical developmental transitions, helping them build resilience, develop coping skills, and cultivate a strong sense of identity. Her focus on early intervention promotes mental well-being and empowers young people to navigate challenges and make informed decisions to safeguard their mental health.

Christina, a Registered Social Worker (RSW), holds a BA in Psychology and a MA in Clinical Social Work. With over 6 years of dedicated experience working with children and youth, she brings a deep understanding of their needs to her role. Christina’s passion for making a positive impact on young lives is why she has chosen to pursue clinical social work. Her experiences have encompassed roles in coaching sports, youth after-school programs, and working with youth experiencing complex substance use and mental health adversities.

Zoe (she/her) is currently completing a Master’s of Social Work at the University of British Columbia Okanagan and is a post-intern, pre-licensed professional with OK Clinical Therapy Group. She has worked for nearly a decade in the social services sector and has a strong community resource and problem-solving background. She meets clients where they are at with compassion, empathy, and care. Zoe has a passion for working with clients to explore the challenges and opportunities life’s journey brings.

Zoe works with clients from all walks of life to address issues around self-acceptance, body image, and identity. She loves helping clients explore their values and goals, work on habit formation, reduce stress, and improve their quality of life. Moreover, she uses a holistic approach to explore an individual’s whole life picture, including their environmental, social, psychological, and spiritual well-being. Zoe tailors her therapeutic approach to fit the individual and what works for them.

Additionally, Zoe enjoys working with couples and individuals focused on relationships, healthy communication, emotional expression, and boundaries. This includes working with folks with a history of relationship and family trauma and abuse. She welcomes clients who are exploring sexuality, intimacy, friendship, and relationships of all types.

Clara’s practice centers on individuals experiencing stress, life transitions, and loneliness.
